Township recruits volunteers for Development Standards Committee
THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (May 16, 2012) – The Woodlands Township is recruiting volunteers for four positions to the Development Standards Committee. The expected term is anticipated to be for one year. The Development Standards Committee is an architectural design and review group consisting of seven individuals that considers and acts upon requests for variances from property owners as well as considers appeals of the decisions made by any of the Residential Design Review Committees.

Register Now! Photography 101
The Conroe Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce registration is now open for our upcoming Photography 101 class with professional photographer, Melanie Hall. Capture better photographs of the things and people you love. Learn about your camera and other tips and tricks in a small hands-on class.
The registration deadline is May 29, 2012 and the fee is $45 for Conroe residents and $56 for non-residents. The session begins June 5 – 21, 2012 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 P.M.-7:45 P.M.

Bouillion Receives National Outstanding Women in Curriculum Award
SPRING, Tx (May 11, 2012) – Dr. Dalane Bouillion, Spring ISD associate superintendent for curriculum and instructional services, was awarded the 2012 National Outstanding Women in Curriculum Award from the Research on Women and Education special interest group that is affiliated with the American Educational Research Association. Bouillion was selected for her work with student engagement and her belief in student-centered learning. In addition, Bouillion gave a presentation to the group that focused on the curriculum being used at two Spring ISD schools: Dr.

North Houston Association’s 18th Annual Golf Tournament To Be Held September 24, 2012 in The Woodlands
Houston, Texas (May 15, 2012) – The North Houston Association (NHA) 2012 Golf Tournament will be held at The Woodlands Country Club – Palmer Golf Course on Monday, September 24. Check-in and registration will begin at 11:00 am. The Shotgun Start for the golf tournament is 12:00 Noon. The Honorary Co-Chairs of the golf tournament are Harris County Commissioner R. Jack Cagle, Precinct 4, and Montgomery County Commissioner Craig Doyal, Precinct 2. At the conclusion of the golf tournament, both Co-Chairs will speak at the late afternoon awards presentation and dinner.

The Pavilion Throws a Cuban Dance Party May 24
The Woodlands, Texas – The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion sizzles May 24 as Cuban sensation Tiempo Libre heats up the stage with the Houston Symphony for Hot Night in Havana at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 for orchestra seating. Mezzanine and lawn seating are free courtesy of The Wortham Foundation. Tickets are not required for free seating. Gates open at 7 p.m. This event is sponsored in part by Houston Family Magazine and Rico’s Restaurants.

Montgomery County Food Bank Receives $25,000 from The Ark Church
Conroe, Texas (May 14, 2012) - The Ark Family Church recently conducted a FUND DRIVE with the membership on 2 consecutive Sundays-4/28 and 5/5 and was able to raise $25,000 for the Montgomery County Food Bank. Community food drives have slowed down, but demand for food in the county has risen, leaving a shortage of food on the shelves in the warehouse. The Ark Church was made aware of the “empty shelves” and filmed footage of the MCFB warehouse. The film was shown to the congregation during a worship service in April. They vowed to once again “Break the Bank”!
