Spring High to Graduate Over 700 Students This Evening

Spring High School graduation will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, 2005 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands. Approximately 745 students will participate in the ceremony.

“Graduation will be a very special, well-deserved event for the graduating class of 2010. Through perseverance these seniors have earned diplomas that represent their preparation for a life without limitations. My hope is for them to pursue their goals, utilize your talents and never lose passion for their dreams,” said Donna Ullrich, SHS principal.

The graduation ceremony will include speeches by Devin Salazar, valedictorian, and Jonathon Shasteen, salutatorian.

Salazar is Chess Club vice president, Future Business Leaders of America president, Mu Alpha Theta treasurer, National Honor Society treasurer, National Science Honor Society president and Spanish Club treasurer. He has been named a Dedicated Service Graduate for her volunteer efforts, which include serving as a MathCounts judge. Other activities include the UIL Academic Decathlon, History Club and the Spanish National Honor Society. Salazar plans to attend the University of Pennsylvania and major in business finance.

Shasteen is a member of National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. He has participated in UIL Academic Team and served as the drum leader for the Spring High band. His community and volunteer efforts include serving as a church acolyte and server, music session teacher and private lesson teacher. Shasteen plans to attend the University of Texas, Dallas and eventually become either an engineer or a psychologist.

The following students round out the top ten graduates at Spring: Luis Allamilla, third; Allison Ngo, fourth; Andrea Mooney, fifth; Rachel Willis, sixth; Mohammad Moiz, seventh; David Moore, eighth; Mason McGuire, ninth; and Cody Bornejko, tenth.

Each Spring High graduate received six reserved-seat tickets at graduation practice at 1:30 p.m. June 1 in the school’s main gym. Additional seating will be available on the lawn. Parking will be available in designated pavilion parking areas.
