City of Conroe Announces Automated Curbside Recycling Program

CONROE (July 30, 2010) - The City of Conroe and Republic Waste announce the curbside recycling program is scheduled to begin in

October of 2010.     GETTING STARTED in what to do is very important as listed below:

  • Recycle these items in recycle cart:
  • Paper Back Books, plastic milk, water, juice jugs, yogurt,  butter tubs, ketchup, detergent, cleaning containers, envelopes, newspaper, cardboard, Inserts, junk mail, tin & steel aerosol Cans , empty glass jars & bottles, phone books, clean pizza boxes, office & school papers (colored paper too) Boxboard (cereal, cake & cracker boxes)Brown Paper Bags (grocery type)

and aluminum cans & clean foil

 

  • DO NOT put these items in the recycle cart:

                NO plastic bags, food waste, food tainted items, (used paper plates, paper towels or paper               napkins)Polystyrene Cups or plates, motor oil bottles, hazardous chemical containers, plastic toys or sporting goods, electric, batteries, compact discs or DVD’s foam egg cartons, ice cream               cartons, garbage yard waste or garden tools

               

  • Cart Instructions
  • Please rinse out plastics, aluminum or steel cans before putting them into your cart
  • Flatten any small cardboard boxes, must be loose into the cart
  • No sorting !  All recyclable items, including glass can be placed into one container
  • The recycle container will be a blue 96 gallon roll away cart with a lid.
  • No additional cost for this service
  • Extra recycled carts can be requested at no additional cost and recycling will replace the current 2nd garbage collection day.
  • Recyclables & regular garbage will be collected on the same day.
  • Collection days for garbage & recyclables will operate Monday thru Friday.
  • Missed collections due to holidays will resume on the next day with collection schedule for the remainder of the week shifted by one day.  Designated holidays are New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
  • Curbside recycling program is scheduled to begin October 2010.
