YMCA Offers FREE Introduction to Triathlon Training Program for Kids

In partnership with the Houston Kids Triathlon scheduled for April 15th, the YMCA is proud to be the exclusive home for a 7 week Introduction to Triathlon training program. Weekly sessions will be held leading up to the Kids Triathlon on April 15th at the University of Houston campus.

The program was developed by a USAT Certified Youth Triathlon Coach and has been used successfully to help more than 800 kids complete their first triathlon. The training focuses on the fundamentals of the sport including conditioning and nutrition.

SPRING, Tx - The Mercer Society and Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens are pleased to present a fantastic springtime Garden Tour to Nacogdoches, Texas, on Friday, March 30, 2012, from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens Director Darrin Duling is excited to offer the first of an ongoing series of exceptional, garden-filled day trips. Participants will enjoy touring public and private gardens filled with azaleas and other vibrant spring flora in this historic Northeast Texas town.

Martial Arts at Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center

The Conroe Parks & Recreation Department offers Martial Arts classes at the Oscar Johnson, Jr. Community Center for youth and adults. The North Side Karate System offers a mixed style of martial arts made up of six different styles. The styles taught include Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Free Style Karate, Shotokan, Wing Chug, and Jeet Kune Do.

MCMLS Presents Library Programs for Special Needs Children Sensory Storytimes Now Offered in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX—Montgomery County Memorial Library System is currently offering a series of Sensory Storytimes targeting children with sensory processing dysfunction (SPD). Autism, Tourette syndrome, cerebral palsy, and Down syndrome are examples of conditions in which SPD commonly occurs.

These programs were developed in response to a survey that was conducted in November of last year, in which over 50 people responded to express interest this type of program.

Gardening author to present seminar

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (February 2, 2012) – Area residents will get an opportunity to learn in-depth information about vegetable gardening at a three-hour seminar on Saturday, February 11, 2012, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the new Township location, 2801 Technology Forest Boulevard.

The seminar, taught by gardening author and horticulturalist Tom LeRoy, is titled “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Vegetable Gardening (But Were Afraid to Ask).” It is sponsored by The Woodlands Township.
